As Congress is debating the future of cuts and changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, we need to show our strong support for the program. Tell Alaska’s Members of Congress that your organization supports SNAP TODAY. Joint Statement from Food Bank of Alaska and the Alaska Food Coalition ANCHORAGE, May 23,  2017 – The president’s FY 2018 budget includes major cuts and harmful changes to the most important nutrition programs for thousands of Alaskans who live in households that have been left behind in the nation’s ongoing economic recovery. AFC Annual Meeting Travel Scholarship – Deadline 12/11 standard

This year, our AFC Annual Meeting will be taking place January 31st-February 2nd, 2016. Travel Scholarship Application Form FY16 is extremely easy and quick to fill out. If you are an AFC Member and wish to join us for the meeting, please complete and return the travel scholarship by Friday, December 11th COB. I guarantee it will take about 10 minutes to complete, so please get yours in ASAP so we can get everyone to Juneau with the cheapest fares possible! On the January 15th teleconference we heard from Loki Gale-Tobin about the Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) and their grant opportunities.  Key take-away points: Visit Alaska Community Foundation to learn about grants and scholarships offered by ACF.  Staff will work with you and review proposals before application deadlines, providing you give them a few weeks – take advantage of this!  Grants of particular interest may include: Strengthening Organizations Grants – Deadlines are Mar 1, June 1, Sept 1, and Dec 1.
