Each year, the Alaska Food Coalition funds mini-grants of up to $1,000 to dues-paying member agencies involved in fighting hunger in Alaska. The funds are intended for small-scale, capacity-building projects that will have a long-term impact on an agency. The Alaska Food Coalition is primarily interested in funding projects which will lead to more hungry people getting fed and/or improves the quality of food being distributed to hungry people. Preference for funding will go agencies with limited resources (budgets under $500,000) where funds will have a significant impact. Preference will also be given to agencies who demonstrate collaboration with other agencies and groups, and engagement in Alaska’s anti-hunger network.
FY17 Mini-Grant Application is now live!
This year, we are happy to announce that we will be awarding up to $7,000 in mini-grants. We will be looking to fund projects where these small grants will have the largest impact, and organizations with an annual budget under $500,000 will have funding preference. The grantees from last year will be serving on our FY16 Selection Committee. Applications are due Friday, November 11th, 2016 at 5:00 PM.
Applications may be handwritten, but we would prefer applicants to request an electronic application so they can type in their responses. Completed applications can be returned to the Alaska Food Coalition Manager by mail to the address below, or to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Restrictions and Guidelines
- You must be a current, dues-paying (general) member of the Alaska Food Coalition. To become an AFC member, contact us.
- Organizations cannot receive funding two years in a row. Members who applied but did not receive a mini-grant last year are welcome and encouraged to apply again this year.
- Applications seeking to cover operating costs such as the payment of utilities, staff salaries/stipends, or the purchase of food will not be considered.
Dues-paying AFC members are also eligible to apply for travel scholarships to cover the cost of airfare to AFC annual meetings and select national conferences. Members will be notified when these opportunities arise.
